Dean of Science, Mike Pentz, OU Academic Peggy Varley and OU Academic Steven Rose filming a TV programme for the first Science Foundation Course, S100, in 1976.
This course included a home experiment kit that allowed students to measure atmospheric sulphur dioxide pollution outside their home, and to identify moth species. Each year a new TV programme was created to discuss the results, with OU students’ findings displayed on a large map of the UK.
