OU TV equipment

Open University academic Gary Alexander demonstrating equipment for an OU broadcast.

The Open University was founded on the belief that communications technology could bring high quality degree-level learning to people who had not had the opportunity to attend campus universities. As technology advances, the reach of the OU continues to grow – from initial late-night TV broadcasts, to cassette tapes students could use at home, and now to vast resources available online.

Over 40 clips and full programmes of Open University teaching programmes from the past fifty years are available to view on The Open University Digital Archive.
