Taken in 1989, Professors Monica Grady and Ian Wright of The Open University’s Planetary Sciences Unit hold a fragment of a meteorite believed to have come from Mars.
As well as being leading space scientists at the OU, Monica and Ian are also happily married to each other.
The OU is a world leader in space science, working with our partners around the world to develop cutting-edge technology and concepts for breakthrough space science missions. This research not only helps to unlock the secrets of our universe, but is applied to challenges closer to home, from cancer testing to food security.
