Discovery

Learn something new in the Discovery Zone!

When is it? 18th October: 11am to 3pm
Where is it? Betty Boothroyd Library

What can I look forward to?

The Library is home to the OpenFest Discovery Zone – a place where you can learn something new and marvel at the OU’s incredible 50-year history.

  • Celebrate OU Research Month – we’ll be celebrating 50 years of world-leading research and giving you the opportunity to get up close and personal with just some of the projects our academics are involved with. Find out what research is happening right now and what impact this might have on the future. Bring lots of curiosity and let them do the rest!

  • See the Tree of Learning – have you seen what's grown in the Betty Boothroyd Library? This is your chance to see the finished Tree of Learning sculpture for the very first time - and it needs to be seen to be believed! Created to mark our 50th Annivesary year, the towering Tree includes over 7,000 personalised gold-coloured shields from OU family who have kindly donated to the 50th Anniversary Scholarships Fund. The Fund will help provide free scholarships so more students can benefit from the life-changing power of education.
